Currency Root :: Library :: Glossary :: Peer-to-peer networking

"Peer-to-peer networking" is a network of any number of "client" computers that do not depend on a centralized "server" computer for access to information or other computing resources, but instead rely upon each other.

Although the peer-to-peer networking approach is a reasonably common solution in small computer networks, the client-server architecture has certain advantages in larger networks that resolve organizational challenges which tend to develop naturally in large peer-to-peer networking environments.
