"ISO" is officially an acronym of the International Organization for Standardization, which has made phenomenal progressive long-term contributions to quality through the encouragement of standardization throughout the world in technical fields such as engineering and manufacturing.

The word "iso" (pronounced "eye-sew") is slang for a reliable copy of data (such as music, videos, or software) that is in a format that can be copied directly to writable CD or DVD media without requiring additional modification (which is notably also useful to people who choose to produce unauthorized copies of data such as music, movies, software, etc.).
