Currency Root :: Library :: Glossary :: Backups

"Backups" are duplicate copies of data which are a preventive measure of information protection.  In the event that theft or damage results in the loss of data, backups are valuable for the restoration of data to new equipment.

One of the most important aspects of backups that is often overlooked is that they are not properly tested.  Regularly testing backups using a different computer (as if performing a restoration operation) by restoring at minimum a few randomly selected files or other data, is imperative because the backups are only useful if data restoration is possible.
